Sustainable agriculture and food security
Climate-smart farming, soil conservation and water-efficient practices for smallholder farmers.
Smallholder farmers carry the cost of degraded soil and unreliable rain first, and have the least room to absorb it.
ACEPS training covers climate-smart practice, soil conservation, sustainable land management and rainwater harvesting, focused on the staple crops farmers in the region actually grow — cassava, vegetables and maize among them. The strand also connects farmers to researchers and agricultural institutions, so that what is learned in the field travels in both directions.
